The second highest point in Paris, Sacre Coeur and neighbor to Montmartre. This basilica is beautiful white against a clear blue sky and is truly magnificent!
The top of the dome is open to the public and can be accessed by taking approximately 300 steps to the top. You can tour the crypt in the basement as well. Of course I had to go to the top for those panoramic views! While up there space is tight and if others want to get by you’ll have to turn sideways. I was pressed up against the pillars in order to photograph but it’s well worth it for views like these! The Eiffel tower looks so small over there!
When you arrive at the top you can hear lots of birds and you know they’re pigeons. They have a unique sound and they’re nested in the peaks, not to mention what they leave behind! Views are breathtaking up there and to me, it was worth taking the 300 steps to the top. God knows I may not get back too soon or be able to climb back up there again!!!
